PONCA CITY, OK —North Central Oklahoma area Sooner fans will find their favorite team in a new spot on the radio dial beginning this fall. Sterling Broadcasting has signed a three-year deal with Sooner Sports Properties, LLC to broadcast all football, all men’s basketball and selected women’s basketball and baseball games on 1230 WBBZ.
“We are very excited to welcome the Sooner Network into the Sterling Broadcasting family,” Sterling Broadcasting Owner/Manager Lyman James stated. “Adding OU to our line-up, gives listeners of our stations a full menu of the very best sports teams in Oklahoma.” In addition to Sooner Sports, WBBZ is also home to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Dan Patrick Show, which can be heard weekdays from 8am – 11am.
WBBZ will also air other Sooner-related programming, including “Sooner Sports Today,” and weekly coaches call-in shows.
The Sooners will open their football season at home against Florida Atlantic University on Saturday, September 1.
In addition to WBBZ’s extensive sports coverage, the station is also the area’s home to the Top 3 talk radio hosts in the country, airing Rush Limbaugh Monday – Saturday from 11am to 2pm, Sean Hannity from 2pm to 5pm and Dave Ramsey weeknights at 5pm.
The addition of the Sooners to the WBBZ lineup also means a change for OSU Cowboy Sports. Beginning this fall, coverage of Oklahoma State football and basketball will move to the FM dial and sister station KQSN, Sunny 104.7.
